History, culture and the unique Lesotho experience meet here in the picturesque village of Thabang situated in the district of Mokhotlong. With its scenic landscapes and majestic mountains some of the nearby mountain peaks rise up to 2400 meters above sea level.'Mants'ebo Guest House is named after the Queen Regent 'Mants'ebo Amelia Seeiso, the first and only woman to ever rule Lesotho; 1940 -1960. She was the first and senior wife of Paramount Chief Seeiso. Mants'ebo had only one child: Nts'ebo, a girl who by virtue of being female could not succeed her father. The succession to the throne according to Basotho culture, is patriarchal and goes to the first male child. Following Seeiso's death Mants'ebo became regent whilst awaiting Bereng to become of age. Bereng was Seeiso's first son born of his second wife; Mabereng. He was later crowned King Moshoeshoe II and is succeeded by his son, the reigning king; Letsie III.
Some of the buildings we use are renovations of rondavels Mants'ebo and Seeiso's other wives, two of whom were siblings, lived in during both her and her husband's reign. In her honor we embrace our history and offer the warmth and hospitality for which Basotho are renowned and the comfort of a home away from home. We currently have ten (10) chalets; all double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Each chalet is named after one of the wives of Seeiso. Three of the chalets are Executives rooms and named after the three most senior wives; Mants'ebo, 'Mabereng and 'Maleshoboro. 'Mants'ebo Executive suite is also a self-catering facility with two bedrooms suitable for families. Guests will unwind in an environment that offers the best that nature has to offer. Whilst the rooms are discretely positioned to enhance privacy the layout of the guest house is designed to blend seamlessly with the environment. It is a classic country escape: Nature lovers can explore guided horse riding tours or set out on walks across rolling hills whilst they enjoy Lesotho's rugged and breath-taking views.
A world of wonders
